They had a sufficient number of lifeboats

The film makes it appear as if the disaster occurred due to a lack of lifeboats, however the Titanic had the required number of lifeboats—in fact, they had more than enough. Due to obsolete safety rules and the Titanic’s managers’ apathy, the ship only needed 16 lifeboats, but it actually had 20 that could carry 1,178 passengers. Even still, this was insufficient for the almost 2,200 persons on board. What’s more alarming is that only 18 lifeboats were used, with many of them carrying only half their capacity. Only 712 passengers escaped the sinking ship in total.

Jack wants to ride the rollercoaster

Even though he had just won his plane tickets in a poker game, Jack had huge plans for his return to America. He talks longingly about what he expects to do once they arrive on board the ship. He expresses an interest in riding the roller coaster at the Santa Monica Pier, since who wouldn’t? Except that this attraction did not exist in 1912. After carousel builder Charles I.D. Looff purchased the area for an amusement pier in 1916, he built the Blue Streak Racer roller coaster.
