Reaching The East
In October 1971, Disney World opened its doors to the public. Before the resort was built on the land, we are sure that there had been many mosquitoes over there. It was developed sixteen years after Disneyland was opened in Anaheim, California in 1955. In the ‘50s, market surveys revealed that only 5 percent of its visitors would travel from across the Mississippi River. This was quite worrisome because it meant that Walt Disney could not tap into a market made up of 75 percent of Americans at the time!
