Registered Nurses
BLS estimates that from 2018 to 2028, the job outlook for registered nurses will increase by 12 percent, or around 210,400 jobs, which would mean more openings for people who want to enter the field, but it would mean that most hospitals would be understaffed at that time. A growing population of older adults could be a key factor, but this may change due to current and future circumstances.
One-Third Of The Workforce
In 2020, there are around one million registered nurses in the US who are over fifty, making up one-third of the workforce. With around seventy thousand nurses retiring annually, it would mean that they may leave within the next 10 to 15 years, and hopefully, be replaced by fresh graduates.
