34. Crispin Glover
Project: Back to the Future: Part 2
Proposed Salary: $150,000*
Outcome: Walked away
Crispin Glover has never hidden the fact that he was dissatisfied with his experience on the Back to the Future franchise. According to Glover, when he expressed his dissatisfaction with the writing for the sequel, the producers allegedly made life difficult for the actor — at least in his opinion.
Furthermore, they were only willing to give him $150,000, which was a pittance compared to what he was worth. Glover quickly realized that this sum was far less than the sums received by other supporting performers for the same film. He determined that his time with the franchise had come to an end for good.
35. Harrison Ford
Project: Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Proposed Salary: $10 million+*
Outcome: They hired Bob Hoskins
Although Harrison Ford is a formidable actor who is equally at home in humor and action in drama, could you envision him in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Bob Hoskins might not have gotten his chance with Jessica Rabbit if Ford hadn’t been so darned costly in the first place.
The directors had initially been hoped to cast the Indiana Jones actor in the role. Still, they were unable to do so due to financial constraints. He was far too important to be tinkering with cartoon crimes, yet everything worked out in the end for the best. Hoskins did a fantastic job in the Disney Touchstone film.
