32. Charlie Sheen
Project: Two and a Half Men
Proposed Salary: $100 million*
Outcome: Agreed
You may say whatever you want about Charlie Sheen, but the man is a fierce negotiator. Sheen insisted on more money, although Charlie was offered $48 million for two seasons of Two and a Half Men. He demanded an unbelievable $100 million in cash or threatened to walk away from the deal.
At first, the network didn’t trust him, but it soon became evident that Mr. Sheen wasn’t playing a joke on them and was severe. In the end, they caved into his demands after playing hardball with him for a while. Although Charlie would eventually be fired from the show in 2012, his contract still made him the highest-paid television performer in history at the time.
33. Johnny Depp
Project: Black Mass
Proposed Salary: $10 million*
Outcome: Agreed
You don’t have to be a movie specialist to recognize that Johnny Depp has had a difficult few years on and off the screen. Depp’s star began to wane in the 2010s, after a period in which he was a popular choice at the box office. When he signed on to act in the 2015 film Black Mass, he agreed to 20 million dollars.
However, when the production costs for the AT&T film continued to rise, the studio was forced to offer him only $10 million due to the company’s inability to compete. Depp first walked away from the project but eventually returned. However, it is unclear whether he was paid his total asking price or simply settled for a lower amount than he had initially been requested.
