During the six years of production, only 34 vehicles of the Maserati 5000GT series were produced. In 1963, Giulio Alfieri, the chief engineer of the series, decided to make some modifications to the Frua model of that year. However, these were changes that a car expert would notice. In order to give the conventional car a “smoother ride”, one such change was made.
