Only 36 of the 481 Duesenberg Model Js produced were “Special Speedster” models with short wheelbases. Of the 36, only two were still in production in 1936. Although their actual price was almost twice as much, namely 8,500 US dollars, Duesenberg lent these rare models to Hollywood icons Gary Cooper and Clark Gable, who bought their loaners for 5,000 US dollars each.
