If you’re looking for a small and gentle dog, why not go for a Yorkshire terrier? It has an average lifespan of 13 to 20 years, so it will stay with you for a long time if you take good care of it. This dog is another one that’s commonly found in apartments and assisted living centers since they’re low-maintenance. Only daily brushing is required. Also, Yorkies don’t need all that much exercise either. You’ll find them resting on your knees a lot.
