A Big Family

They have appeared again on the show after being guests on TODAY in 1997. Just days before their 18th birthday, the McCaughey family was again invited to be guests of the show. They were interviewed and asked how they have so far managed their lives. Kenny said, “You just have a big family to hang out with a lot of brothers and sisters. You’re never alone, and there’s always someone to talk to.” He also added, “I think that’s the best thing I do.”

Kelsey “The Singer” McCaughey

At the time Kelsey was born, she weighed only over 2.4 pounds. She was the lightest among the other six babies and was born fourth in order. Kelsey was in music, as did her parents. It had been her dream. But all is not working in your favor. She put off her lifelong dream and planned to pursue music at the University of Hannibal LaGrange. In an interview with TODAY, she said, “It was a cultural shock, for sure,” when asked about her decision to go to university, which was far from their home.
