2 Chainz – Basketball
As the more talented side of the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz gained notoriety. The song “Duffle Bag Boy,” which featured Lil Wayne, was their biggest hit as a duo. Others may not be aware that 2 Chainz succeeded at basketball outside of the music industry, but he did when he went solo in 2012 and had success with the songs “No Lie,” “Birthday Song,” and “I’m Different.” He participated in basketball at North Clayton High School before going on scholarship to Alabama State University. From 1995 to 1997, he was a member of the team, participating in 24 of the 29 contests.
Ed O’Neill – Football
While working and attending Ursuline High School, Ed O’Neill started playing football. After receiving a football scholarship offer from Ohio University, he admitted to Inside the Actors Studio that he preferred to socialize and play sports over studying. Later, he participated in Youngstown State University’s defensive line program. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent after his time at Youngstown, but he never made it further. Before making an appearance on TV at the time, he explored several different careers. He received Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild nods for his work on “Married… with Children” and “Modern Family.”
