Brady would then become the backup quarterback. Drew Bledsoe, starting QB, was forced out of the game during their second game. He would be out for a while due to a sheared blood vessel and Brady had to fill in for him. Luckily, Tom Brady performed well and he eventually led New England to an 11-5 record.
