A Friend Immediately Noticed The SOS

Aimee Sparks first met Mikey in Seattle in 2004. Ten years after that first meeting, they went to Nepal together. She was one of the first people who saw his SOS post. “I saw Mikey’s post just a minute or two after it went up. I work remotely and tend to have Facebook open while I work. I saw it and of course was startled and a bit surprised,” she said. Even though she was worried, something felt off about it.

Worried For Her Friend

When she first saw the post, she had no idea what to do about it. “I worried that he had been drugged or kidnapped or something,” she informed CNN. She added, “I went on his FB page and was going to send him a message when I realized that there is a call option now, so I called him. I think I was the first person to actually talk to him.” After doing this, she got the confirmation that her friend was in danger.
