Romantic Waves
Did you know that soft waves help reverse the effects of facial volume loss that comes with age? So what you want to do to get that soft, feminine, youthful look is to wind sections of your hair in various sizes (as you don’t want the sections too perfect) around a large-barrel iron, or just twist 1″ sections of hair as you blow dry. When you’re all done, be sure to pull pieces of your hair forward and around your face.
MD Heidi Waldorf, an associate clinical professor at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in its dermatology department says, “Volume loss makes your face shape look more rectangular, with sharp angles that are more masculine than the classic female heart-shaped face.”
Low Chignon
A chignon help to show off the angle of the jaw, this is crucial in showcasing a more youthful look and it flatters the contour of the face as well. Start off with a diagonal side part that starts above one eye and runs back to the middle of the top of your head. Then be sure to gather all of your hair at the nape of your neck and begin to loosely twist it into a low bun. Then secure the look with bobby pins around the chignon.
“A chignon shows off the angle of the jaw, which can be a very youthful and flattering contour of the face,” reveals Whitney Bowe, an MD from New York City, who is a dermatologist that specializes in skin rejuvenation.
