Keeping Emotions Suppressed
Negative emotions and sadness have been shown to affect the body’s inflammatory responses and the immune system overall- resulting in exacerbated inflammation. When these emotions are present the body is more likely to develop more pro-inflammatory cytokines which tell the body that the immune system is not functioning optimally.
Grief And Loss
The unfortunate and terrible act of losing a loved one has an effect on the body and mind. With regards to the immune system, the effects are only seen up to 6 months later if the grief continues. A dysphoric mood and unresolved grief have shown to decrease functioning if persistent.
