Even the worn-down rocks near where Perseverance landed look like they were wet in the past. The Perseverance’s Mastcam-Z camera took this picture on February 22. It shows a piece of the delta coming up from the crater floor.

Horgan says that the “crazy red coatings” that are more purple than normal Mars dust are interesting, as are the different textures in the picture. “What kind of rocks are these?” The coats probably mean that water changed them, and the purple color means that they have iron in them, she says.
