The options that stood in front of them were clear, but not as easy at all. They could either leave the puppies where they were, hoping that the mother would come back to get them, or they could rescue them and assume the mother would not be back. Either way, the babies were trapped.

They still weren’t sure what kind of animals were stuck in the sewer, but they decided to go ahead and take them out. If they would “contaminate” them with their human touch, then it would be a decision that would have to live with.
