Precautions
Any experienced animal rescuer will tell you that no matter how much you want to help an animal in distress, you have to take certain precautions. When an animal feels scared or endangered, they can often behave acutely. While some might be frightening and cower in the corner, others can become aggressive and attack their would-be rescuers. Because of this, firefighters have a set of rules to abide by in order to ensure mutual safety.
Always Prepared
When responding to an animal rescue situation, it is imperative to be ready for anything. Since firefighters don’t only rescue cats and dogs, they have to be prepared to work with undomesticated animals like bears, chickens, and even in some very rare occasions, wild cats.
